Oren, a visionary Israeli entrepreneur, embarked on a journey to commercialize Terahertz (THz) waves, a frontier of the electromagnetic spectrum. The challenge was immense; producing Terahertz waves cost-effectively had confounded scientists and companies alike. But Oren’s resolve was unshakable. He understood that this breakthrough could revolutionize industries and improve lives.

Driven by this vision, Oren founded TERA (originally known as Novatrans) in 2003, a deep-tech science-based company. This venture was supported by an investment to secure Terahertz intellectual property and research from the esteemed Weizmann Institute of Science. Oren’s goal was ambitious yet clear: to merge advanced technology with practical solutions through a sophisticated strategy to ensure optimal profit & elevate lives.

Oren foresaw the impact THz waves could have, potentially surpassing other electromagnetic applications like X-Ray, UV, IR, Radio/RF, and Wi-Fi. The mission was fraught with many uncertainties, including the complexity, duration, and substantial capital required for research and development, along with the need to educate and penetrate the market with THz technology. Undeterred by these challenges, Oren pressed on, firmly believing in the essential benefits of THz waves for humanity.

For nearly two decades, under Oren’s leadership, he instilled in the team a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and resilience, fostering an environment where bold ideas flourish and dreams become reality. His legacy of innovation and perseverance will forever be etched in the DNA of TERA.

Oren holds a B.Sc. in Economics and Statistics with a minor in Law and an M.Sc./MBA (“Summa Cum Laude”) from the Hebrew University in Finance, Banking, and Accounting. He is a Major (Ret.) in the Israeli Air-Force.

Beyond his professional achievement, Oren was known for his devotion to his family, unwavering generosity, passion for life and creating lasting memories with others. He delighted in inviting others to join him on his helicopter rides over the coast of Israel; his love for jazz music, good wine and history books.

Despite his busy schedule, Oren was dedicated in mentoring and inspiring a new generation of young Israeli entrepreneurs at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and found great pleasure in doing so.

Though Oren may no longer be with us in person, his spirit and legacy will continue to inspire us every day. We are forever grateful for the privilege of having known and worked alongside such an extraordinary leader. May his memory be a beacon of inspiration, guiding us forward as we carry on his legacy of innovation and excellence.
